Lake Nipissing and The French River is famous for its fishing. It is fairly remote area and only accessible by boat or plane.There are countless weather protected areas for you to fish. Most of our guests are successful fishing on the river within a 0-4 mile radius of Sandy Haven Camp.
You can expect to catch anything from jumbo perch, largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye and northern pike to the ever-exciting Muskie.
 

Ontario Fishing Regulations for
The Upper French River @ Lake Nipissing 2010

Walleye
Jan. 1 - Mar. 15 & 3rd Sat. in May - Oct. 15.
S - 4; none between 40-60 cm (15.7-23.6 in.), not more than 1 greater than 60 cm (23.6 in.)
C - 2; none between 40-60 cm (15.7-23.6 in.), not more than 1 greater than 60 cm (23.6 in.)

Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass
4th Sat. in June to Dec 1st
S - 6 Large Mouth Bass and Small mouth Bass
C - 2 or any combination.

Northern Pike
3rd Sat. in May to Dec 1st
S - 4; not more than 2 greater than 61 cm (24 in.), of which not more than is 1 greater than 86 cm (33.9 in.)
C - 2; not more than 1 greater than 61 cm (24 in.), none greater than 86 cm (33.9 in.)

Muskellunge
3rd Sat. in June to Nov 30th
S - 1; must be greater than 122 cm (48 in.)
C - 0

Yellow Perch Jan. 1 - Mar. 15 & 3rd Sat. in May - Oct. 15.
S - 25 in one day, possession limit of 50
C - 25

Sunfish Open all year
S - 50
C - 25

Lake sturgeon closed all year.

– including the waters of the French River from the
Chaudière and the Little Chaudière dams to Lake Nipissing; the west bay
of Lake Nipissing in Haddo Twp.; the northwest bay of Lake Nipissing to
the falls of MacPherson Creek; the Sturgeon River from Lake Nipissing
to the dam at Sturgeon Falls; the Veuve River from Lake Nipissing to
the chutes located in Lot 5 in Conc. l in Caldwell Twp.; the South
River from Lake Nipissing to Highway 654; and the entire West
Arm of Lake Nipissing including Cross Lake.
